Soundings newsletter has been a tradition at American Steamship Company since the early 1980s when it began as a print publication. Today, Soundings online continues to bring current ASC news and items of interest to our employees, customers and industry associates. Karen Alongi joined ASC as Manager of Financial Analysis in May 2008. Prior to ASC, Karen was the Corporate Controller for Ciminelli Development Company, a real estate services firm. Previously, Karen held the Finance Director position at Metro Group Inc, a free weekly newspaper distributed in WNY and Azerty Incorporated, an international computer supply distributor. Karen's skills include project management, process improvement and financial analysis. Karen holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from Canisius College and an MBA from the University of Buffalo. Karen is also a CPA.
Martin A. Slanovich joined the Human Resources Department as Human Resources Administrator in October 2007. Marty earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Marine Transportation from State University of New York Maritime College, Fort Schuyler, New York. He holds a USCG Third Mate Unlimited license with a USCG Mate (Pilot) endorsement. Most recently, he sailed as a towboat pilot for Kirby Inland Marine and he also has had some experience as an unlicensed deckhand for Spirit Cruises. Marty will be responsible for dispatching, scheduling and administering the USCG Drug & Alcohol Program as the Designated Employer Representative.
Todd Lincoln joined the Accounting Department as an Accounting Associate in September 2007. Todd has a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting from Keuka College. He will be responsible for general ledger account reconciliations, cash receipt entry, fixed assets, assisting with accounts payable and various other general accounting functions.
Holly Baker joined the ASC Human Resources Department as Marine Personnel Dispatcher in August 2007. She holds a Bachelor of Science, Marine Transportation degree from Massachusetts Maritime Academy and has received her Third Mate Unlimited license. Holly worked in Traffic for Kerr Steamship Company in Boston, Massachusetts and was Manager of Traffic for ULS Marbulk's fleet of self-unloaders in Salem, Massachusetts.
